We at Living for Life specialise in the above areas. Course coordinator, lead tutor and assessor Michelle Jermy holds extensive knowledge and experience within the health related exercise field.
Michelle has been employed within the Health and Exercise Industry since 1999. While studying she worked as a Fitness Instructor. As her studies progressed she gained an interest into adaptive exercise. In 2001 Michelle was appointed Exercise Referral Co-ordinator for Breckland Council. Over the coming years she helped develop and expand the exercise opportunities for individuals with medical conditions and/or negative lifestyle habits living within the Breckland area. In 2003 she qualified as a BACR Exercise Instructor working closely with West Suffolk Hospital offering weekly exercise classes for individuals with a history of cardiac disease. It was at this time she started working with ‘Upbeat’ a local heart support charity. At present she runs ten classes every week, working on average with 80-100 clients each week all with varying fitness levels and barriers to exercise.
Michelle’s passion to increase awareness of the benefits of exercise has progressed her studies, Michelle recently completed research in Sport and Exercise Medicine, looking at the effects of choice, on self esteem, motivation and exercise adherence.
Michelle lectured for nine years on the Applied Science courses; Foundation Degree Sports and Exercise Science, BTEC National Sports Science and BTEC National Health Science. Michelle lectures and tutors on units ranging from Gym Instructing, Sports Massage, Nutrition for Health and Lifestyle. Michelle teaches and assess on all of the Living for Life courses and workshops.
Over the years Michelle has been a regular presenter for Workplace Health and Exercise Referral Training and continues work and research in both the public and private sector.

Wanting a career in the fitness industry then the Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music) is where it can all start. Fancy leading a group exercise session, motivating clients to your favourite music? If you answered yes, this is for you. Learn to devise a fun and effective group exercise sessions to music.
The Active IQ Level 3 in Nutrition for Physical Activity qualification is for (minimum) level 2 Instructors who would like to offer nutritional and weight loss advice to classes and clients. If you are interested in running Fat Loss Bootcamps, Weight Loss Groups and Clinics and Healthy Eating sessions then this qualification is perfect for you.
The Active IQ Level 3 in Personal Training gives learners the knowledge and skills to work with individuals and groups of clients in a personal training setting. Successful achievement of the qualification will allow the learner to gain employment within an organisational setting of alternatively in a self-employed environment.
The Active IQ Level 3 Sports Massage qualification gives learners the knowledge, integrity, competency and proficiency to perform sports massage on a range of clients who have no underlying pathological conditions. Successful achievement of the qualification will allow the learner to gain employment within an organisational setting or alternatively in a self-employed environment.
This qualification is available to individuals already instructing who wish to improve their knowledge and skills to enable them to deliver Circuit sessions. It is also relevant for those already running such sessions without a formal qualification.
This qualification is available to individuals already instructing who wish to improve their knowledge and skills to enable them to deliver Group Indoor Cycling sessions. It is also relevant for those already running such sessions without a formal qualification.
The CYQ Level 2 in Studio Resistance is an excellent bolt on to all gym and aerobic instructors alike. With the number of people engaging in group exercise on the increase this course will equip you with the latest skills and techniques to teach safe and effective studio resistance exercise sessions. During the course you will learn valuable tips on how to motivate your clients devising exercises to music.
The Active IQ Level 3 in Exercise Referral course is ideal for those gym and aerobic instructors positive to promote healthy living. This course is designed to make exercise accessible for all. You will learn to devise a safe and effective exercise programmes for individuals with stable medical conditions. On the course you will have the opportunity to attend workshops in chair based exercise, back care and adaptive circuits.
This course will teach you the main physiological changes that occur to the body systems as a result of the ageing process. You will learn to design a safe, effective and fun exercise programme for the older person. Breaking down barriers and making exercise accessible for all.

2012 sees the launch of the Living for Life Workshop Programme. An excellent way to continue professional development and network. Full details coming very soon. All workshops with be REP’s accredited. (4 REP’s points per 4 hour workshop.)
